There is beauty everywhere.  In every moment.  In everyone.  Uncovering beauty is a passion of mine.  As a make-up artist, I taught my clients that make-up was never about them.  Make-up is simply a tool used to focus the eye of the observer.  Highlighter, concealer, and shadow all outline what we want to bring into awareness.

In yoga, the breath plays the same role.  It shifts us into focus with our inner observer, and takes us deeper into all aspects of ourselves.  My anxiety is a part of me.  When I feel those familiar twinges of panic, I shift my awareness to my breath, and observe the anxiety. What’s the cause?  Where am I unbalanced? Ungrounded? I allow myself to become an observer of my humanness.  This is a powerful position to embody.  Observation without attachment, without judgement.  To sit in that space, allowing, observing, connecting.  Our breath brings us into focus with all aspects of ourselves.  Our yoga practice brings us into our breath, and into deeper connection with our own spirit.  My anxiety isn’t a shadow side, it is not a flaw or something I need to overcome.  It is a beautiful aspect of what makes me beautifully me.  Honoring all aspects of Self as Divine is one of the main lessons, and biggest challenges, of a yoga practice.  Stepping fully into the muck, honoring the light and the dark equally as vital components of the One. That is the beauty. That is the practice.
